British singer/songwriter Billy Lockett has shaped a body of recordings that highlights his precise piano technique and expressive voice, yielding a body of introspective and affecting songs stretching from the self-released 2012 EP that bears his name to the 2023 album Abington Grove.

Raised in Northampton, England, Lockett began studying piano at age eight and continued with classical training through his school years while absorbing pop and rock influences. At 16 he formed his first band and began composing original material. Drawing equally from Radiohead and Massive Attack, he issued his self-released debut EP in 2012. A subsequent agreement with Selfish Records led to several further releases throughout 2013. After receiving national radio exposure and completing multiple U.K. tours, Lockett expanded his audience with additional tracks before signing with EastWest. His first single for the label, “Empty House,” appeared in 2018, and over the following years he assembled a growing catalogue that included the 2019 release Reset, which presented his distinctive soul-inflected approach to indie pop. Early in 2021 he issued Reflections, a seven-track EP that underscored his ability to craft stirring and emotionally direct pop material. In 2023 he delivered his debut full-length album, Abington Grove. Conceived and tracked at his family residence in Northampton following his father’s passing, the 12-song collection examined his formative years in that house.
