Biography
Bird Peterson emerged as an indie electro producer based in Austin, TX, after building recognition online through bootleg remixes of familiar tracks that appeared frequently on music blogs including Discobelle, Gorilla vs. Bear, and IHeartComix. The Houston native, born Andrew Hoke, issued his first album, Give Em Hell, Bird!, in 2001 via Solid Trunk Records. A few years afterward came the follow-up full-length Hot Noise in 2007, again on Solid Trunk, along with EPs issued across different imprints: Plays (2007), Solid Trunk (2007), and Your Parents Are Still Making Sweet, Sweet Love! (2008). At the same time his remixes kept surfacing on indie electro-focused sites such as Discobelle, Gorilla vs. Bear, and IHeartComix, establishing him as something of an indie electro sensation within the music blogosphere to a greater degree than any of his original productions.
