Salva crafts beats that sit chiefly at the intersection of hip-hop and EDM while pulling in strands from numerous additional styles. He passed his early years in Chicago yet relocated to Miami once he reached 18, a move completed by 2000. There he started spinning records in neighborhood venues, soaking up the local Miami bass sound that prompted him to launch his own imprint, Frite Nite. He later transported the label to San Francisco, where he completed his first album-length project, Complex Housing, issued in 2011 and reflecting his eclectic take on bass-driven subgenres. That same year brought an invitation to the Red Bull Music Academy’s sessions in Madrid, after which he was designated an RBMA Alumnus.

The producer’s profile surged in 2012 thanks to a joint rework of Kanye West’s “Mercy” with RL Grime; the track spread rapidly online and opened doors to festival slots plus broadcast appearances, among them a turn hosting In New DJs We Trust on BBC Radio 1. As momentum built, Salva shifted to L.A. and paused operations at the label amid rising requests for live performances and remix work. Across the following two years he issued the EP Odd Furniture in 2013 and the guest-laden mixtape Peacemaker, which featured Kurupt, E-40, ScHoolboy Q, Bad Lucc, Ballout, Freddie Gibbs, and Problem. Once the mixtape appeared he stepped back from his own material, though he continued supplying productions for other acts. Salva resumed releasing under his own name in 2017 with the open-source beat tape Clips, an effort that offered stems for free and invited listeners to create unauthorized remixes.
