Blood Has Been Shed, a metalcore outfit based in Connecticut, USA, draws particular attention for counting two Killswitch Engage members among its ranks. Vocalist Howard Jones launched the band in 1997, well before his time with Killswitch Engage. The founding lineup included guitarists Corey Unger and Todd Beaton, bassist Chris, and drummer John Lynch, and the group issued its first recording, the independently released I Dwell On Thoughts Of You, in 1999. Ferret Records acquired distribution rights, raising the band’s profile and triggering multiple roster adjustments that brought guitarists Daniel Daponde and Brendan MacDonald plus bassist Richard Thurston into the fold. By the 2003 arrival of the band’s strongest album, Spirals, on Roadrunner Records, Justin Foley—drummer for Killswitch Engage—had joined, shifting Lynch to bass. Jones and Foley have sustained commitments to both projects, even though Killswitch Engage remains far more widely recognized.
