Biography
Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Boy Epic cultivates an enigmatic and teasing presence while merging his sweeping noir pop sound with cinematic visuals to bridge music and film. Early on, the singer and songwriter concealed both his identity and age so that attention would center on his multimedia endeavors. During 2014 he posted YouTube renditions of A Great Big World's "Say Something" and Christina Perri's "Human," which rapidly accumulated millions of views within months. He then shifted to original three-song EPs, each accompanied by its own video; the opening set, Skynova, appeared that same year and was soon succeeded by Who Is Parker Banks? and Tell Me Lies. Working steadily with producer and frequent collaborator Cut Down Trees, he issued further tracks, among them pieces drawing from the films 50 Shades of Grey and Suicide Squad. His dramatic aesthetic and expressive vocal approach drew notice from Hollywood Records, which signed him in 2016. While readying his first full-length album, he launched the gradual rollout of the Boy Epic Chronicles, a sequence of visual preludes introducing every song on the record.
