Biography
Cassyette fuses abrasive metal with glossy electronic pop in her raw, intense tracks. Initial outputs like 2022's Sad Girl Mixtape secured festival appearances and support dates alongside Sum 41, setting the stage for her irritated full-length debut, This World Fucking Sucks, in 2024.
Born in Chelmsford, Essex, U.K., Cassy Brooking spent time as a behind-the-scenes songwriter before introducing her performing identity Cassyette through the alluring rock cut "Jean" in 2019. She expanded her palette with industrial metal, rap, and defiant pop on tracks such as "Dear Goth" and "Prison Purse" during early and mid-2021, the same period that brought her first festival slot at Download Festival. That October she joined Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes on the single "Off with His Head." Momentum carried into late 2022 with the unofficial album Sad Girl Mixtape and opening slots for Sum 41 and My Chemical Romance.
Early 2023 saw her return with a clear sense of grievance on "BOOM," her first release for 23 Recordings. The following October, Brooking earned songwriting and backing-vocal credits on Bambie Thug's "Doomsday Blue," Ireland's Eurovision Song Contest 2024 entry. In 2024 she supported Bring Me the Horizon across U.K. arenas while issuing a series of singles that preceded the August arrival of her debut album, This World Fucking Sucks.
