English rock outfit Tigress draws from the likes of Paramore, Don Broco, and You Me at Six to present an eclectic mix of current rock approaches, stretching from melodic post-grunge into emo-tinged pop-metal. Formerly operating as the Hype Theory, the band adopted its present name in 2015 and moved beyond early pop-punk foundations toward a weightier alternative rock identity. A string of EPs preceded the arrival of its first full-length effort, Pura Vida, in 2021, with the follow-up album Are You B-O-R-E-D? appearing in 2025.

The Hype Theory came together in Chelmsford, Essex, in 2010 and swiftly built a profile on the pop-punk circuit, playing major U.K. festivals such as Download, T in the Park, and Sonisphere. Two albums—2011’s Glory Days and 2013’s Captives—plus the 2014 EP The Hunted came out before the 2015 name change and the abandonment of the summery pop-punk style that had defined the group. Vocalist Katy Jackson, guitarists Tom Harrison and Sean Bishop, bassist Jack Divey, and drummer Josh Coombes released their first material under the Tigress banner with the late-2015 EP Human, revealing a darker, more modern-rock direction. Subsequent EPs Like It Is and Who Cares sustained that approach while the band accumulated festival appearances and support slots with Bring Me the Horizon, Evanescence, and Spiritbox. The debut album Pura Vida landed in 2021 and drew praise for its combination of stadium anthems, theatrical balladry, and post-grunge force. A series of 2024 singles included the streaming successes “Freefall” and “Blah Blah Blah,” both of which featured on the 2025 sophomore LP Are You B-O-R-E-D?.
