Prolific Detroit-based producer Christian Jay Sienkiewicz crafts atmospheric, melodic house under the names Ice Cold Chrissy and Coyote Clean Up. Growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, he absorbed music through his mother, who introduced him to the Velvet Underground, and through MTV, which exposed him to Whitney Houston. Once his family relocated to Detroit, he joined multiple punk and indie bands while attending high school alongside electro wunderkind Jimmy Edgar. He tuned regularly into the city’s diverse local stations, finding inspiration in the dream pop and alternative rock broadcast on one and in the hip-hop, R&B, house, and techno featured on others. In the late 2000s Sienkiewicz started tracking material as Coyote Clean Up, shaping early bedroom sessions into 2009’s Double Trouble on Afternoons Modeling, the next year’s split EP with FUR, and the limited-edition cassette Downhill Exxxpress on I Had an Accident Records. Following a 2011 split single with DenMother, Coyote Clean Up issued four titles by April 2012: a collaboration with Phantasmagoria, the cassette Double Doom, Frozen Solid (his debut for 100% Silk), and 2 Hot 2 Wait (his first album pressed on both CD and vinyl).
