D.B. Ricapito, who writes and performs his own material, pairs everyday lyrics with productions that fuse pop and R&B textures, a balance already evident on his 2020 EP I Can't Explain It.
Raised in Ashburn, Virginia, he mastered the guitar without formal lessons by the time he turned twelve. Viral exposure on the streaming platform YouNow led him into the Beatline Boys for a spell, after which he launched a solo career. The 2018 track “California King” marked his first independent release, and shortly afterward he joined the Sony-affiliated Siri Music Group. His initial offering on that roster, the 2019 single “Lonely,” was followed in 2020 by “So Crazy” and “Picture,” all three of which later appeared on the December 2020 EP I Can't Explain It. That project also contained the duet “Good Things Don't Last” with Erin Kirby. In March 2021 Ricapito resurfaced with his own renditions of Drake’s “Passionfruit” and Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin Bout You.”
