Formed at the start of 1996, Delirious? began as the worship band for a monthly outreach run by Arun Community Church in Littlehampton, West Sussex, and soon ranked among Britain’s foremost Christian rock acts. Following two self-released worship projects, the ensemble started performing locally and established its own Furious? imprint. That label issued an EP, a concert recording, and the group’s first studio album, King of Fools, in 1997.

Later the same year Delirious? encountered an unexpected breakthrough when the single “Deeper” reached the British Top 20—an unprecedented achievement for an openly religious ensemble. The band then entered a deal with EMI and, in 1998, issued The Cutting Edge, a two-disc anthology of its earlier worship material. Sparrow/Chordant secured U.S. rights and reissued King of Fools in May 1998. Mid-1999 brought Mezzamorphis, the Virgin debut, while Glo appeared on Sparrow Records in fall 2000. A further double-disc worship collection, Deeper: The D:Finitive Worship Experience, arrived in 2001 and was followed the next year by the two-CD set Touch. Three additional albums appeared, the last being 2008’s Kingdom of Comfort; afterward the band declared its farewell tour and formally disbanded in 2009.
