Biography
Dog Blood unites the most driving and vigorous elements from two electronic music producers as a collaborative side project featuring American dubstep icon Skrillex and German house DJ Boys Noize. The pair launched their partnership in 2012 via the split single "Next Order" b/w "Middle Finger," released two EPs afterward, then shifted focus back to solo work until reemerging with "Turn Off the Lights" in 2019.
Sonny Moore (Skrillex) and Alex Ridha (Boys Noize) began the project that same year. Drawing influence from Aphex Twin, they blended the most intense qualities of their individual styles by adding abrasive effects to beats suited for rave settings. Their opening release was the 2012 single "Next Order"/"Middle Finger," followed soon after by the Middle Finger, Pt. 2 EP that contained three fresh tracks. A remix edition of the latter appeared in 2014. Although joint live appearances stayed limited to occasional electronic festivals over the next several years, both remained active on their own. Ridha delivered the albums Mayday and Strictly Raw, Vol.1 and Vol. 2, while Moore teamed with Diplo for the 2015 Grammy-winning Jack U project and contributed to singles alongside Vic Mensa, Rick Ross, "Bangarang"'s Sirah, and What So Not. The duo reconvened in 2019 for a handful of festival performances and issued the single "Turn Off the Lights" that March.
