Biography
Formed during their junior high days in Toronto, the Canadian rap-rock outfit Down with Webster began as a seven-piece group featuring Bucky on vocals, Cam on vocals, Kap on vocals, Pat on vocals and guitar, Tyler on bass and keyboards, Marty on drums, and Diggy on turntables. After building a following through energetic performances on the independent circuit, the band secured a deal with Universal Motown Records and made their major-label entrance in 2009 via the seven-track mini-album Time to Win, Vol. 1. That release yielded the radio hit “Rich Girls,” whose hook reworks the 1970s blue-eyed soul classic “Rich Girl” by Hall & Oates. Ahead of its arrival, Down with Webster played multiple summer dates on the 2009 Vans Warped Tour and later joined labelmates Forever the Sickest Kids for a fall run of shows. In 2011 the group disclosed Kap’s exit over creative differences, while also issuing the single “She’s Dope” in May from the forthcoming Time to Win, Vol. 2.
