Biography
DRAIN emerged from Northern California as a punk band whose sound blends unrelenting force with catchy hooks, drawing deeply from classic West Coast hardcore and thrash traditions. Their second album, the Epitaph debut Living Proof, appeared in 2023.
Vocalist Sammy Ciaramitaro, guitarist Cody Chavez, and drummer Tim Flegal formed the group in 2014 in Santa Cruz, bonded by shared enthusiasm for punk-metal and the area’s surf and skate culture. In the years that followed, they helped strengthen the local hardcore community while also reaching listeners in new regions across the country. The EPs Over Thinking and Time Enough at Last surfaced in 2016 and 2017, and the subsequent singles “Army of One” and “California Cursed” led to a standout appearance at the 2019 Sound and Fury Festival in Los Angeles. Revelation Records took note of the performance, signed the band, and issued the full-length California Cursed in 2020. The record’s timing coincided with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, whose lockdowns kept DRAIN off the road. Once touring became possible again, the group resumed activity with vigor, performing both at home and abroad before returning to the studio for their next album. Produced by Taylor Young (God’s Hate, Suicide Silence), Living Proof marked their first release on Epitaph and arrived in 2023.
