Biography
Swedish pop trio Eggstone originated in Malmö during 1986, assembled by vocalist and bassist Per Sunding alongside guitarist Patrik Bartosch and drummer Maurits Carlsson. After persistent live work and several demo recordings, the band released its first single, “Bubblebed,” in 1991 and promptly collaborated with producer Tore Johansson on the EP Shooting Time. The group then joined the SNAP roster and returned the following year with the album In San Diego, which yielded the Swedish radio success “Can’t Come Close Enough.” In 1994 the Michael Blair–helmed Somersault arrived, its track “Water” achieving widespread popularity in Japan and prompting local observers to label Eggstone “the godfathers of Swedish pop.” Early 1997 saw the release of Vive la Différence!, the trio’s first outing on Vibrafon, followed four years later by Ca Chaufee en Suede.
