Maximo Grado formed as a regional Mexican ensemble rooted in Culiacan, Sinaloa. Their repertoire centers almost entirely on danceable corridos, occasionally offset by a handful of well-chosen rancheras. Fans frequently memorize every lyric and join in spontaneously during performances, a participatory response the musicians deliberately foster.

The group assembled in 2011 under frontman Cristian Felix. Its lineup further comprises innovative accordionist Alexis Valenzuela, who contributes backup vocals, Adrian Martinez on bajo sexto, drummer Jesus Romero, electric bassist Christian Sanchez, who doubles as a second lead vocalist, and percussionist Willy Saldana. Non-performing member Jesús E. Muñoz Sánchez serves as the primary composer.

Distinctive sonic traits define the ensemble: syncopated drumming patterns, swirling staccato accordion lines, and conversational exchanges within the vocal arrangements. They steer clear of narcocorridos and any material that glorifies violence, choosing instead to portray family and rural existence. This thematic focus broadens their appeal across generations and distinguishes them from numerous other Sinaloa-based corrido acts.

Initial visibility arrived through social-media video uploads, prompting several years of touring that allowed the musicians to refine their style. The first release, the live album La Vida del Leon, appeared in 2014 and was succeeded the same year by the studio recording Yo Soy Ivan on HyPhy. The 2015 pre-release single “Unas Heladas” registered on multiple Mexican Regional airplay charts before the full-length Marca Acme arrived in May 2015 via AfinArte Music.
