Biography
Philadelphia electronic musician Thomas Michel, recording as Hazey Eyes, produces atmospheric and frequently filmic EDM pieces that incorporate both his own vocals and contributions from assorted guest singers. He first attracted worldwide attention by posting material on SoundCloud and issuing the EPs Goodbye in 2016 and Some Reason in 2017.
A multi-instrumentalist with formal classical training, Michel divided his high-school years between that discipline and performing in a local metal group. Exposure to electronic music while in college redirected his creative path, prompting him to craft more reflective, understated EDM under the Hazey Eyes moniker. Following the October 2016 release of his debut EP Goodbye, he rapidly established himself as a producer, songwriter, and collaborator through tracks such as the single “Love Is” and “Some Reason,” which featured Australian artist FEELDS.
The follow-up EP Some Reason appeared in 2017 and included additional vocal partnerships with Violet Skies and Claire Ridgely. With growing recognition, Michel began aligning himself with more prominent names, issuing the 2018 collaboration “Scars” alongside Yoke Lore.
