A country singer celebrated for his gritty, raspy delivery and wandering minstrel existence, Ian Flanigan had already spent ten years on the road before gaining widespread attention through his appearance on the nineteenth season of The Voice in 2020. His first major-label releases arrived in 2022 with the singles “Under a Southern Sky” and “Last Name on It.”

Born in Saugerties, New York, Flanigan began writing songs at age eleven. Once he finished high school he took to the highways without hesitation, yet the demands of constant travel eventually wore him down; by his late twenties he entered rehab. Not long afterward he met his wife, Ayla, and together they formed a production company, committing to full-time touring from their motor home. His final performance of 2020, at a Nashville honky-tonk just before the Covid-19 lockdown, unexpectedly caught the attention of producers for The Voice. His rendition of Zac Brown Band’s “Colder Weather” impressed the show’s team, leading him to join Blake Shelton’s roster and ultimately place third. The connection with Shelton produced the 2021 duet “Grow Up,” which gained strong streaming numbers and secured Flanigan a contract with Reviver Music. He opened 2022 by issuing the singles “Under a Southern Sky” and “Last Name on It.”
