Biography
Jacob Bryant cultivated a devoted underground audience by issuing a run of self-released EPs that showcased his grounded, autobiographical songwriting, a sound steeped in classic Southern rock, and a persona rooted in outlaw country traditions. Born and raised in Georgia, he came from a household steeped in music and chose to chase a professional path in the field once he completed secondary school. The sudden loss of his mother on New Year’s Day 2010 derailed that trajectory and drove him further into his songwriting. His self-titled debut EP arrived in 2014, followed in 2015 by Through the Windshield. Two projects surfaced in 2016—an acoustic EP and the original-material set Up in Smoke—while a second acoustic EP reached listeners the following year alongside a series of singles that included the standout tracks “More Than One Year” and “Whiskey Down the Drain.” In 2019 he issued his first proper studio album, the twelve-song Practice What I Preach, whose twang-driven arrangements addressed redemption, addiction, faith, and loss while spotlighting the cuts “Pour Whiskey on My Grave,” “More Than One Year,” and “Best Part of Me.” A seventeen-track deluxe edition of that album appeared in 2021.
