Biography
Canadian vocalist Jamie Fine delivers intense live shows rooted in her exuberant, emotionally charged electronic pop style. Recognition arrived when she formed one half of the duo Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine, whose 2019 EP 8:47 earned Juno Award nominations.
She spent her early years in Ottawa’s Centrepointe district in Ontario, absorbing jazz and classical music before beginning to sing at age eleven and continuing through high school performances. Though music remained her focus, she enrolled in culinary arts at Algonquin College in Ottawa, where she met songwriter and producer Elijah Woods in 2014 and launched their creative partnership.
After claiming first place on the 2018 talent series The Launch, the duo released the Ryan Tedder-produced single “Ain’t Easy,” which climbed into the Top 40 of the Canadian Hot 100 that April and later received a 2019 SOCAN Pop Music Award. They returned to the chart in November with “Better Off,” which reached number 69; both songs appeared on the 2019 debut EP 8:47, securing Juno nominations for Group of the Year and Pop Album of the Year.
March 2020 brought “Want You Back” and a collaboration with the Colombian group Nanpa Básico on “No Sé Qué Somos,” while Fine also issued her first solo track, “Sellout,” through Big Machine Records. Citing creative differences, the pair disbanded later that year to pursue separate paths, with Woods concentrating on production. Fine reissued “Sellout” on Big Machine Records, then signed with Universal Music Canada two years later and delivered the vivid, sincere “Confessions,” followed by the sardonic “Hate Me Love Me.” These tracks, along with her collaboration with Alicia Moffat on “Never Wanted This,” formed the EP Eight Gardengate.
Fine maintained her momentum throughout 2023 with several singles, most notably the major platinum-certified hit “If Anything’s Left.”
