Biography
Queer pop artist Jesse Saint John initially built his professional profile by composing material for Britney Spears and Charli xcx, credentials that soon supported his shift into performing with the 2008 single “Move.” Raised in Orange County, California, he immersed himself in music and theater throughout high school before relocating to Los Angeles at the first opportunity to focus on a career in the field. His early co-writing credit arrived in 2013 with “Cloud Aura,” included on Charli xcx’s True Romance album; the same artist later recorded another of his co-written pieces, “Secret (Shh),” in 2016.
After signing a publishing agreement with Sony Music, he took on dual responsibilities as songwriter and creative director for Sony Music Entertainment beginning in January 2015. His breakthrough placement came with “Love Me Down” on Britney Spears’ 2016 album Glory. The following year brought additional cuts on projects by Andy Grammer and New Kids on the Block. In 2018 he co-wrote “Something’s Gotta Give” for Camila Cabello while simultaneously launching his own recording activity early in the year. Having developed “Move” at a writers’ retreat, he identified the track as the right choice for his solo debut; it surfaced that February via We Are: The Guard. Two further singles, “Fake It” and “What Do U Like,” followed later in 2018, and his first EP, Don’t Stop Dancing. Life Gets Sad., arrived in 2019.
