Biography
Swedish rap trailblazer Yung Lean has long maintained Jonatan Leandoer96—previously known as Jonatan Leandoer127—as a parallel outlet dedicated to his darker, ballad-driven impulses. The alias surfaced initially on the 2016 mixtape Psychopath Ballads, then guided three full-length projects that broadened its scope: Nectar in 2019, Blodhundar & Lullabies in 2020, and Sugar World in 2023.
After establishing himself in the cloud-rap vanguard and shaping Swedish hip-hop at large, the artist adopted Jonatan Leandoer96 to issue music beyond conventional rap boundaries, favoring introspective songwriting instead. The name, drawn directly from his given name Jonatan Leandoer, first appeared on Psychopath Ballads, a collection of remote, reflective singer-songwriter pieces. A 2017 EP titled Katla marked his next step under the alias before he fully embraced it on the 2019 album Nectar, an indie-rock foundation laced with spoken-word passages. His second album, Blodhundar & Lullabies, arrived in 2020 and tested an array of progressive stylistic combinations. Following several years devoted to Yung Lean releases, he revisited the project for the 2023 LP Sugar World, a wistful survey of pop aesthetics across multiple decades.
