In 2015 six French performers between the ages of eight and fifteen established the children’s pop ensemble Kids United. Erza Muqolli, Esteban Durand, Gabriel Gros, Gloria Palermo de Blasi, Nilusi Nissanka, and Carla Georges formed the group under the guidance of vocalist Hélène Ségara together with UNICEF. Several members had already gained notice through appearances on French televised singing contests such as The Voice Kids. Their debut single, a cover of Demis Roussos’ 1989 song “On Écrit sur les Murs,” entered the French charts later that year. The peace-themed first album Un Monde Meilleur followed in November 2015 and contained further covers of John Lennon’s “Imagine,” Pharrell Williams’ “Happy,” Grégoire’s 2008 European hit “Toi + Moi,” plus additional French-language tracks. Guest appearances by Ségara and Corneille were included, and a share of proceeds benefited UNICEF, propelling the record to number one in France and number seven in Switzerland. Tout le Bonheur du Monde appeared in 2016, the same year Carla Georges left to launch a solo career. After issuing the live set Le Live, Kids United secured their third chart-topping album with Forever United in 2017.
