Originally from Jackson, Tennessee, Lathan Warlick first channeled his creativity through hip-hop dance before pivoting to rap, where he layers trap-styled beats with country-flavored productions to deliver messages of positivity as a Christ-following artist. After a video of his dancing circulated via a Chris Brown repost on social media, a life-threatening incident prompted him to pursue upliftment through rapping instead. He began by posting clips that layered fresh verses over current hits, then shifted to original material that built enough momentum for a commercial launch in 2015. His early output included the 2016 singles “Needa Blessing” and the assertive breakthrough “Tellem That Im Comin,” which quickly surpassed a million streams, plus the EP Tellem That Im Comin that same year. Further releases followed, among them the 2018 project A Church in the Trap, steadily expanding his online audience. In 2020 he secured publishing and label deals with Columbia, allowing him to leave his previous work as a well-traveled welder. The 2021 EP My Way arrived next, featuring RaeLynn, Lauren Alaina, and Dustin Lynch, while the 2022 follow-up Let’s Be Honest, his first major-label effort, included appearances from KB and Blessing Offor.
