Born in Albany, California, on February 2, 1990, Jordan Capozzi later adopted the stage name Lil Debbie. Her father pursued music while her mother worked in fashion, and Capozzi herself modeled and designed clothing. Despite her cool blonde appearance, she cultivated a roughneck rap persona that embraced weed and contrasted sharply with her visuals. An older sister's boyfriend introduced her to hip-hop through his devotion to Mac Dre, whose hyphy-anticipating sound captivated the teenager.

At age 15, Capozzi befriended Natassia Zolot and Vanessa Reece, two fellow hip-hop enthusiasts. Years afterward, she took the name Lil Debbie, Zolot became Kreayshawn, and Reece performed as V-Nasty. Together they launched the White Girl Mob, with Lil Debbie handling DJ duties at the outset.

The crew reached its height in 2011 via Kreayshawn's single "Gucci Gucci," which featured the group and appeared in the accompanying video. The track spread virally and secured Kreayshawn a major-label contract, yet personal tensions prompted Lil Debbie's expulsion from the act that September. She then concentrated on rapping rather than DJing and collaborated with Riff Raff on the tracks "Squirt," "2 Cups," and "Gotta Ball," all of which gained traction online. In her frequent song videos, she accentuated her sex appeal by appearing in bikinis or lingerie.

Her debut mixtape, Keep It Lit, surfaced in July 2012, followed by the EP Queen D in October 2013. California Sweetheart, her first full-length mixtape, arrived in October 2014. She also guested on projects by Dizzy Wright, Sasha Go Hard, Trinidad James, and Demrick. Interviews stirred debate when she accused Miley Cyrus of appropriating her fashion choices and twerking approach, especially from the "Ratchets" video.

Home Grown, an EP featuring Wiz Khalifa and Paul Wall, emerged in 2015; that same year she launched Cakes, her own line of edible cannabis products. Lil Debbie's first proper studio album, simply titled Debbie, finally appeared in July 2016. The following year she issued the EP XXIII and performed at Insane Clown Posse's 17th annual Gathering of the Juggalos.
