Born in 1998 and raised in Dallas, Texas, the rapper and singer Cuban Doll first advanced toward prominence by working as a model while cultivating an online following. She launched accounts on Twitter and Instagram in 2012 under the handle Cuban da Savage, rapidly accumulating thousands of followers. By 2016 she had begun issuing her own recordings, already linked with fellow artists including Molly Brazzy, Asian Doll, and BandGang. Alternating between the monikers Cuban da Savage and Cuban Doll, she embraced a mumble rap approach and maintained a steady stream of new songs paired with videos. Her initial mixtape, Cuban Link, appeared in 2017, followed months later by the shorter project Aaliyah Keef, which contained the viral single “Rat Bitch.” Rising visibility coincided with the end of her friendship with Asian Doll, a rupture that escalated into an openly publicized feud marked by repeated controversies and exchanges on social media. Cuban Doll nevertheless sustained her output, releasing the 2018 collaboration “Bankrupt” with Lil Yachty and Lil Baby along with the YBN Nahmir-assisted “Big Chop.” She opened 2019 with the single “Bag Talk” alongside Mza1 and DJ Gutta Butta.
