Biography
Emerging from Chile in the opening years of the 1990s, the punk rock group los Miserables assembled around singer-drummer Claudio, guitarist Patricio, bassist Amapola, and Fiko, who supplied both vocals and guitar. Their approach drew intense inspiration from the Clash, Dead Kennedys, and Rage Against the Machine. At first the songs centered on politically charged and divisive topics, yet the focus gradually moved toward lighter themes while the core sound stayed intact. An invitation brought los Miserables to the 1999 edition of Raras Tocatas Nuevas, the rock showcase staged by a leading local radio outlet. Two years later the band supplied a cover of “Paramar” for the los Prisioneros tribute album.
