Biography
Blending gentle club rhythms with an eclectic array of orchestral textures, laid-back lounge hues, 1980s synthesizer lines, and digital elements, Pacific Northwest artist Grant Eadie produces the understated electronica project known as Manatee Commune. Its self-titled 2016 debut album featured the widely circulated single "What We've Got" alongside Flint Eastwood.
A multi-instrumentalist steeped in classical training and raised in Washington state, Grant Eadie formed Manatee Commune in Bellingham before settling in Portland, Oregon. After signing to Bastard Jazz Recordings, he issued the Thistle EP in early 2016, followed later that year by the full-length Manatee Commune. The record balanced whimsical dance instrumentals with more composed song structures and brought in guest vocalists Marina Price, Moorea Masa, and Flint Eastwood. Around the same time, Manatee Commune also delivered remixes of material by Aloe Blacc, Petit Biscuit, and others.
The follow-up album PDA arrived on Bastard Jazz in 2019 with contributions from Samuel Eisen and Allie Crystal. Manatee Commune supported its release by touring with Geographer.
