Pop-punk outfit Meet Me @ the Altar delivers high-octane rock that blends infectious melodies with an unapologetically empowering stance. The lineup of Edith Johnson, Téa Campbell, and Ada Juarez first connected online and spent their initial years creating music remotely before translating that momentum into live performances. Assembled while all three were still young teenagers, their earliest material radiated raw enthusiasm and unfiltered exuberance; by the time they reached a wider listenership, the 2021 EP Model Citizen displayed greater focus and craft. Following widespread acclaim that positioned them as rising stars, the 2023 album Past // Present // Future set out to merge their punk-rooted authenticity with glossy, radio-friendly production values.

Téa Campbell, a guitarist based in Orlando, Florida, launched the project in 2015 after stumbling across drum covers of emo and pop-punk tracks posted by Ada Juarez of North Plainfield, New Jersey. Impressed by Juarez’s playing, Campbell reached out, and the pair quickly began exchanging riffs and ideas that evolved into original songs. Seeking a singer, Juarez uploaded a recruitment clip; Edith Johnson, an emo devotee from Peachtree City, Florida, responded with a recording of Paramore’s “All I Wanted.” Although Johnson’s vocals clicked immediately, Campbell and Juarez initially hesitated over political differences during the 2016 primaries and instead worked with bassist and vocalist Rosalind Vo.

Because the three musicians lived in separate states, Meet Me @ the Altar rehearsed and tracked material entirely online, resulting in the self-released digital EP Red Walls in December 2015. With parental support they began convening in Florida for shows at Orlando’s Soundbar and brief regional tours. Johnson continued pressing her case, and when Vo exited in 2017 the remaining members brought her aboard. That June the trio issued the nine-song, self-released album Out of Sight, Out of Mind. They steadily built an online following and performed whenever schedules permitted, enlisting El Xiques on bass for 2018 dates and Kaylie Sang on rhythm guitar throughout 2019.

Growing attention from Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low, Dan Campbell of the Wonder Years, and Halsey led Fueled by Ramen to sign the band. Their label debut, the six-song EP Model Citizen, arrived in June 2021. The following year they graduated to bigger stages, including a Lollapalooza appearance and support slots for Green Day. Producer John Fields, whose credits include the Dollyrots, Switchfoot, Demi Lovato, and Miley Cyrus, oversaw sessions for the full-length Past // Present // Future, which paired the group’s pop-punk drive with a sleek pop finish.
