Born in Argentina, singer-songwriter Nito Mestre first connected with music as a member of the school band La Indignación del Siglo. An introduction to local musician Charly García prompted him to launch the project Sui Generis. The group disbanded in September 1975 after a final show at Buenos Aires’ Luna Park, after which Nito Mestre cut the album Porsuigieco and then assembled the folk-rock outfit Los Desconocidos de Siempre with guitarist Rodolfo Gorosito, bassist Alfredo Toth, keyboardist Ciro Fogliatta, drummer Juan Carlos Fontana, and singer María Rosa Yorio. He launched a solo path in 1981 with the release of 20/10, followed in 1983 by Escondo Mis Ojos Al Sol. In 1984 Nito Mestre joined Juan Carlos Baglietto, Celeste Carballo, and Oveja Negra for a nationwide tour presented under the explicit slogan We Sing for Love, Freedom, and Life.
