Vox Dei

Vox Dei, the Argentinean ensemble formerly called Mach 4, began performing toward the close of the 1960s. Following their signing with the independent label Mandioca, the group put out the singles "Azucar Amarga" and "Presente" in 1969; the album Caliente appeared the next year. Their 1971 conceptual release La Biblia established Vox Dei among the leading figures in local rock. After Juan Carlos Godoy exited, Ignacio Smilari came aboard. Jeremias, Pies De Plomo surfaced shortly before the band appeared in the film Rock Hasta Que Se Ponga El Sol. Guitarist Carlos Michelini took over for Ricardo Soulé in 1974. Following a final concert at Buenos Aires' Obras Sanitarias in 1981 the act dissolved, only to reconvene in 1988 for the album Tengo Razones Para Seguir. Bassist Willy Quiroga passed away on November 21, 2024, at age 84.
