Biography
Vermont native Pierce Fulton built his reputation in the early 2010s as a producer, DJ, singer, and multi-instrumentalist whose original tracks and remixes spanned multiple electronic styles. After accumulating several notable collaborations, he put out his first full-length project, Introducing Pierce Fulton, in 2014.
Having played music his entire life, Fulton put out his first solo EP, Pardon My French, on Cr2 Records in 2011 while still a teenager. Tracks such as the 2012 Bebe Rexha collaboration “Sink or Swim” and the 2013 cuts “Wanna Be” and “Where We Were” (featuring Polina) drew notice, prompting him to headline extensive tours and supply remixes for the Killers’ “Runaway” and MUTEMATH’s “In No Time.” Between 2013 and 2014 his live schedule took him through Central America and Mexico, U.S. and Canadian clubs, and European festivals; in March 2014 he dropped the single “Runaway” alongside the Runaway EP, which reached number one on the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists chart that summer.
Later in 2014 he issued the dance-chart climber “Kuaga (Lost Time)” and remixes of Dillon Francis’ “When We Were Young” and Life of Dillon’s “Overload,” then released the debut album Introducing Pierce Fulton, a collection of his earlier material. In 2016 he followed with the EP Borrowed Lives, a dance-oriented set that drew inspiration from the non-digital instruments Fulton had played in his teens; its title track included fellow indie pop-EDM crossover artists NVDES. The sophomore album Better Places arrived the next summer and again featured NVDES along with two contributions from Noosa.
After the high-profile single “Waiting for Tomorrow,” which paired Fulton with Martin Garrix and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, he released “Information Overload” with Grabbitz and the two ethereal Noosa-featuring singles “Overthinking Rain” and “What Is Gonna Make You Happy?” Pierce Fulton died on May 29, 2021 at the age of 28.
