Electronic pop duo POWERS emerged as the collaborative vision of Mike Del Rio and Crista Ru. These New York natives, now based in Los Angeles, first built their careers writing songs for Selena Gomez ("Birthday"), Kylie Minogue ("Into the Blue"), Christina Aguilera ("Make the World Move"), and Skylar Grey and Eminem ("C'mon Let Me Ride"). Their profile rose sharply in 2014 through a featured appearance on the Knocks' hit single "Classic."

The following year brought two buoyant tracks, "Touch the World" and "Gimme Some," whose exuberant energy evoked a hypothetical pairing of Ke$ha and Icona Pop. Drawing on their hallmark shimmering synth approach for original material, the pair issued their debut EP, Legendary, in 2015, which included the singles "Beat of My Drum" and "Hot."

After supporting DNCE and X Ambassadors on the road, they enlarged their sonic palette with broader arrangements and Caribbean rhythms, scoring a viral summer 2016 success with "Sunshine." During the same period they entered the studio alongside mixer/producers Rich Costey (Of Monsters and Men, Foster the People) and Mark Rankin (Bloc Party, Iggy Pop) to craft their first full-length album, Alpha. Fronted by the anthemic single "Dance," the record appeared in spring 2017.
