Emerging as the focus of the reality competition Popstars, the German quartet Queensberry secured a Top Ten album debut during 2008. The lineup of vocalists Leonore Bartsch, Gabriella de Almeida Rinne, Antonella Trapani, and Victoria Ulbrich originated that same year through the seventh edition of Popstars, where female contestants vied for positions in a fresh girl-group foursome. Earlier editions of the series had produced comparable acts, including No Angels and Monrose, each of which achieved notable commercial results. After the seventh season concluded, Queensberry cut its first full-length release, Queensberry, Vol. 1 (2008), and issued the project via the Warner Music imprint Starwatch. The album reached the Top Ten on the German and Austrian charts while yielding the hit singles "No Smoke" and "I Can't Stop Feeling." The following year the group joined the Pussycat Dolls for a European tour and issued the single "Too Young."
