Red Death emerged amid the fresh surge of D.C. hardcore, delivering a caustic mix of crossover and thrash that recalls D.R.I., Corrosion of Conformity, the Accused, and Discharge.
The group came together in 2013, drawing its lineup from area acts including Coke Bust, Sectarian Violence, Genocide Pact, and Pure Disgust. In 2014 it released a well-received demo that stirred interest throughout the thriving D.C. D.I.Y. punk community. Permanent Exile, the band’s debut full-length, appeared the next year on Grave Mistake, followed in 2017 by the sophomore album Formidable Darkness on Triple B. Two years after that, Sickness Divine arrived and included the track “Face the Pain.”
