Biography

New York native Reina, whose name translates to “Queen” in Spanish, first discovered her voice under the early influence of her mother’s own youthful stage appearances. Her commitment to pop crystallized after she performed “Out Here on My Own” in a production of the musical Fame. Steady session work as a backing vocalist for contemporary R&B diva Deborah Cox and dance artist Corina supplied the opening that turned that ambition into a recording career. Her first release, the Hex Hector–produced “Find Another Woman,” rose to the number-two spot on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and earned a nomination at Miami’s Winter Dance Music Conference. “Anything for Love” appeared shortly afterward.
