Biography
Reyna Roberts blends a bold country-pop approach with an irreverent edge, pulling from an eclectic mix of genres that reflect her peripatetic upbringing. Anchorage-born to two Army combat engineers, she spent her childhood across Alaska, California, and Alabama before settling in Nashville. Early exposure to trap, blues, hip-hop, classical, rock, and country informed the distinctive sound that first reached a broad audience via the 2020 single “Stomping Grounds.” Three years afterward she issued her debut album, Bad Girl Bible, Vol. 1, which featured the tracks “Country Club” and “He Gon’ Be a Problem.”
Roberts began performing as a youngster, singing karaoke in neighborhood bars and working at the family piano. At ten, after her parents lost their house, they preserved a storage unit so she could keep practicing. Following a brief period in Alabama the family relocated to Los Angeles, where she started developing her songwriting. Artists such as Gretchen Wilson, Jamey Johnson, Charlie Daniels, Rihanna, the Chicks, Miranda Lambert, Johnny Cash, Adele, and Beyoncé shaped her perspective; while still in high school she put out the independent EP The Beginning.
Dividing her time between Los Angeles and Nashville, she made Music City her permanent home in 2020. A clip of her covering Carrie Underwood’s “Drinking Alone” drew notice from both Mickey Guyton and Underwood, who shared the video, solidifying Roberts’s focus on country. Later that year she released “Stomping Grounds,” a propulsive fusion of rock, country, and pop laced with electronic touches that brought wider recognition. She supported Jamey Johnson on his 2021 summer tour and signed with the Nashville publishing firm Eclipse Music Group. “Pretty Little Devils” surfaced in 2022, followed in early 2023 by the collaboration “Another Round” with Tayler Holder. Bad Girl Bible, Vol. 1, her first full-length project, appeared later that year.
