Assembled under the guidance of producer and songwriter Rich Harrison—whose credits include Beyoncé's "Crazy in Love" and Amerie's "1 Thing"—RichGirl formed as a quartet that straddled contemporary R&B and pop in the same manner as most of his projects. The members, drawn from separate regions, comprised Audra from California, Brave from Maryland, Seven from Florida, and Lyndriette from North Carolina. In 2007 they inked a deal with Jive via Harrison's own Richcraft imprint. Their first release arrived the following year in the form of "24's," a low-slung Southern-inflected single that offered a refined reinterpretation of Destiny's Child's Harrison-crafted "Soldier" and featured Bun B; despite the pedigree, the track peaked at number 92 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart. While serving as openers on the North American summer 2009 dates of Beyoncé's I Am...Sasha Fierce trek, the group unveiled its follow-up single, "He Ain't with Me Now (Tho)." An album had been slated for later that summer, yet only a mixtape appeared before the act dissolved. Seven later attained mainstream success writing and performing under the name Sevyn Streeter, while Lyndriette resurfaced as part of June's Diary, the ensemble nurtured by Kelly Rowland and BET.
