Biography
In late-’90s Germany, Cologne producer Robert Babicz generated a series of influential techno releases under his most prominent and successful alias, Rob Acid, securing his place among the country’s foremost techno artists. Prior to using that name, Babicz issued several club-focused acid techno 12"s on his own Junkfood Records imprint, appearing as Acid Warrior and as Department of Dance. Once a handful of Rob Acid titles had been issued, he retained the pseudonym, gained substantial attention, and entered into a relationship with Force Inc., the largest and most far-reaching techno label in Europe. On that imprint Babicz continued to issue Rob Acid material while also exploring ambient and experimental work under his given name and delivering lighter, more approachable techno as Atlon, Inc. Additional Rob Acid recordings surfaced on London, Labworks (Colone Acid Science Trax), Important, and Generator, as well as other labels.
