Stan Van Samang entered the world on March 19, 1979, in Wijgmaal, a spot situated near Leuven, the capital of Flemish Brabant. His professional path opened with work as a television actor, where he appeared in series before moving into films. The singer first gained notice in 2006 through the competition Steracteur Sterartiest, which he won, thereby earning a recording agreement with EMI.

His first single arrived in 2007 under the name “Scars,” a release that promptly claimed the top spot on the singles chart. Later that year came the full album Welcome Home, which landed at number three on the albums chart and contained the Top 20 singles “Poison” and “Siren.”

A second album, 2009’s Take It from Me, proved equally successful, reaching the Top Five of the albums chart while producing the hits “This Time” and “I Didn’t Know.”

Although acting claimed much of his attention throughout the early 2010s, he maintained a recording schedule. In 2011 two albums appeared: the Top Ten release King in My Head and another titled Stan Friday.

A guest spot on the musical program Liefde voor Publiek, which invited performers to reinterpret one another’s material, generated his next breakthrough. The well-received performances yielded an accompanying album, also called Liefde voor Publiek, that rose to number one and ranked as the best-selling Flemish album of 2015.

Twelve months afterward, the self-titled Stan Van Samang likewise reached the summit of the Flemish charts.
