Biography
Formed in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the dawn of the 2000s, the heavy metal outfit Straight Line Stitch issued a self-released demo EP and a full-length album during those initial years. The group nonetheless regards its authentic inception as coinciding with vocalist Alexis Brown’s arrival in 2003. Brown first appeared on record with the band’s second independent effort, To Be Godlike, released in 2006, by which point the supporting roster had coalesced around guitarists Pat Pattison and Seth Thacker, bassist Jason White, and drummer Patrick Haynes. The following year the ensemble filmed a clip for the song “Remission” under the direction of Dale “Rage” Restighini of Raging Nation Films; when Restighini subsequently launched Raging Nation Records as a KOCH subsidiary, Straight Line Stitch became his inaugural signing. Amid a schedule exceeding two hundred concerts annually, the musicians tracked When Skies Wash Ashore, which earned the group its first nationwide distribution on August 19, 2008.
