The Browning

From Kansas City emerges the Browning, a band fusing the severe aggression of metalcore and deathcore with the propulsive rhythms and atmospheric electronics drawn from hardstyle, trance, electronica, and dubstep. Established in 2005, this self-described rave-metal outfit has navigated repeated membership adjustments while maintaining regular releases that earned recognition for Burn This World, Isolation, End of Existence, and OMNI, all while testing the outer edges of intense music.

Vocalist Jonny McBee launched the project in 2005 initially under a crunkcore banner before it matured into a weightier endeavor through the addition of trance and dubstep textures layered over breakdown-driven metal. Their first album, Burn This World, appeared on Earache Records in 2011, with Hypernova following two years afterward. A shift to Spinefarm preceded the third full-length Isolation, which incorporated a contribution from Frankie Palmeri of Emmure on the single "Disconnect." The group refined its electronicore approach on 2018’s Geist, a polished recording that emphasized both robust songcraft and meticulous production. McBee handled every performance, recording, and production role solo on the widely praised 2021 release End of Existence. The Browning expanded into a trio for the 2024 FiXT album OMNI, uniting McBee with Cody Stewart and Hardcore Keem23 to explore forward-thinking EDM-metal. McBee stands as the sole member present without interruption since the beginning.
