Biography
Sunflower Dead, an elastic metal outfit headquartered in Long Beach, California, fuse a radio-ready modern rock sound from nu/alt-metal, greasepaint-heavy horrorcore, and groove-laden melodic hard rock, delivering menace closer to Kiss than Marilyn Manson. The group coalesced in 2012 around vocalist/accordionist Michael Del Pizzo, lead guitarist Jaboo of Two Hit Creeper, guitarist Jamie Teissiere formerly of Droid, bassist Leighton "Lats" Kearns from Memento, and drummer Jimmy Schultz out of In This Moment. That same year the band released its mythology-driven self-titled debut through Bloody Bat Records. Their follow-up effort, the 2015 album It's Time to Get Weird, was helmed by producer Dave Fortman whose résumé includes Evanescence, Slipknot, and Godsmack, and it included a guest vocal turn from Korn frontman Jonathan Davis.
