Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Thandi Phoenix works as a singer and songwriter whose soulful vocal delivery shapes emotive dance music. Initial widespread notice arrived through her appearance on Ta-ku's 2013 album Songs to Break Up To, listed under the full name Thandiwe Phoenix. Under the name Thandi Phoenix she issued her debut single, the dramatic club ballad "Come Around," in mid-2015 and continued with the comparable "Tell Me Where All the Lovers Have Gone" in 2016. The Mac Brothers, U.K. producer Dushi, and the singer herself shared co-production duties on the second track. Phoenix soon took an invitation to tour alongside Rudimental and Jess Glynne. Expanding awareness also brought opening slots on Australian dates for Jhené Aiko, Tinashe, and Tinie Tempah, plus a Sydney Opera House appearance with Ta-ku and a string quartet. The single "Standing Too Close" appeared in mid-2017, and the Rudimental-produced "My Way" followed in March 2018.
