Biography
The Royal Concept, Stockholm's indie dance-rockers, first drew global notice through their self-produced single "D-D-Dance," a track that unveiled the group's Phoenix-like fusion of bright pop and electronic textures. The lineup consists of vocalist/guitarist David Larson, guitarist Filip Bekic, bassist Magnus Robert, and drummer Frans Povel. After adopting the name in April, the band signed with Lava Records early in 2012, and the label issued their self-titled debut EP that June. Their first album, Goldrushed, appeared in 2013 and spotlighted the hit single "On Our Way," which surfaced on the FIFA 14 soundtrack as well as on the TV series Glee and Catfish. Tony Hoffer, whose past credits include work with M83, the Kooks, and Depeche Mode, produced the Smile EP, which arrived in 2015 and reflected the quartet's turn toward glam.
