Biography
R&B singer Trevante traces his roots to Joe Halliburton, who performed with the mid-'90s Big Beat/Atlantic outfit Groove U. After leaving his Houston, Texas birthplace for Atlanta, Georgia, he began performing as a child and joined Radio Disney's Incubator program. Under the earlier stage name Tre', he issued the single "Baby Girl," which logged 15 weeks on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart and reached number 50. Several years afterward he joined the Imani roster and, between 2011 and 2013, put out the singles "Be My Girl," "Body Ody" featuring Cash Out and Soulja Boy, "Be Your First," and "Bad Girl" featuring Lil' Twist. These tracks appeared ahead of his first full-length release, I Am Trevante.
