Born in suburban Perth's Mirrabooka in 2000, Tyde Levi Mellet crafts atmospheric pop tinged with R&B. The youngest of four siblings that include pop musician Troye Sivan (Mellet), he first drew attention as a preteen social media personality and issued his self-titled debut EP at age 18 in 2018.

Levi began cultivating an audience by uploading videos to his own channel as far back as 2011 and amassed hundreds of thousands of followers once he appeared on his brother's platform the next year. He took an uncredited role in the 2013 feature Spud 2: The Madness Continues alongside Troye and John Cleese, then switched to homeschooling at 14 to accommodate a more adaptable timetable for his music.

On the live front, he played the under-18-focused Good Life Festival and topped the bill at AmplifyLIVE in 2016. During the ensuing year he co-wrote material—later released as the singles "Goldchains" and "Sober"—in sessions alongside Daniel Johns and EDM duo Cosmo's Midnight. His first recordings reached the public in late 2018 via the EP Tyde Levi, which contained both fully produced and acoustic renditions of three tracks, among them "Goldchains" and "Sober."
