Tyler Hubbard has long driven the glossy, upbeat vibe of bro country, first as the Georgia member of Florida Georgia Line throughout the 2010s and later on his own. Once the duo dissolved in the early 2020s, he carried forward their approach by updating the bright style on the 2022 chart-topping single “5 Foot 9,” drawn as the lead track from his first EP, Dancin’ in the Country. The self-titled full-length debut followed the next year, with the second album Strong appearing in 2024.

Born in Monroe, Georgia, Hubbard enrolled at Belmont University in Nashville and first encountered Florida-born singer/songwriter Brian Kelley during a campus worship gathering. Their friendship eventually grew into the Florida Georgia Line partnership. The act surfaced in 2010 and achieved broad success two years later when the debut single “Cruise” became the first country recording to earn diamond certification from the RIAA. The Grammy Award-winning pair anchored the country-pop landscape for the remainder of the decade, issuing gold- and platinum-certified projects such as Here’s to the Good Times, Anything Goes, and Dig Your Roots.

In 2021 Hubbard and Kelley stated they would pursue separate solo paths while still operating as Florida Georgia Line. That year Hubbard joined Tim McGraw on “Undivided” and rapper Lathan Warlick on “My Way.” Early in 2022 he joined EMI Nashville and started recording his first album, which blended his country and Christian influences and featured contributions from regional hitmakers including Ross Copperman, Keith Urban, and Thomas Rhett. The opening single “5 Foot 9” surfaced that June and later rose to number four on Billboard’s Country Airplay charts. He issued the Dancin’ in the Country EP in August, material that shaped the self-titled long-player Tyler Hubbard, released in January 2023 and reaching high positions on the Billboard Country charts. Later that year the singles “Back Then Right Now” and “A Lot with a Little” previewed his second album, Strong. Issued in April 2024, the set carried Hubbard’s writing credit on each of its 13 tracks; he co-produced it with Jordan Schmidt.
