Unto Others, a West Coast goth-metal ensemble formerly operating under the Idle Hands name, incorporates influences from classic heavy metal, new wave, and glam-punk. Singer and songwriter Gabriel Franco established the group in 2017 following the breakup of Spellcaster, his previous project. Drawing from pioneering goth acts such as Sisters of Mercy, the Cure, and Héroes del Silencio, the lineup features Franco alongside Sebastian Silva, Colin Vranizan, and Brandon Hill. After securing a contract with Eisenwald Records based in Germany, they released their initial EP Don't Waste Your Time in 2018. Mana, their debut album, came out in 2019 and was promoted through tours across America and Europe, notably a 45-day support slot with King Diamond. In 2020, Don't Waste Your Time II was issued as a follow-up to the first EP, coinciding with the revelation of their name change to Unto Others prompted by a trademark conflict involving Idle Hands. Roadrunner became their new label in 2021, when they introduced the tracks "When Will God's Work Be Done" and "No Children Laughing Now," both featured on the well-received second album Strength. Century Media welcomed the band in 2023, leading them to record with Tom Dalgety, known for work with Ghost, Pixies, and Royal Blood. The result was Never, Neverland in 2024, a confident collection highlighted by the popular streaming tracks "Butterfly" and "Momma Likes the Door Closed," which exemplify their distinctive fusion of goth, punk, glam, and metal elements.
