Biography
In 2012 the five-piece Walking Shapes assembled in New York City. Its members are Nathaniel Hoho, a Pennsylvania native and the sole non-New Yorker among them, Jesse Alexander Kotansky, Dan Krysa, Christopher Heinz, and Jake Generalli.
Hoho and Alexander had previously played together in another group; after that ensemble disbanded they kept writing and recording, eventually recruiting additional sympathetic musicians and establishing Walking Shapes, whose eccentric, downcast pop style recalls the Flaming Lips.
The band issued its first album, Mixtape, Vol. 1, in summer 2013 and returned in early 2015 with the Gus Oberg-produced Taka Come On, fronted by the single “Woah Tiger.”
