Biography
William Kent, who performs under the name WillThaRapper, crafts intense verses focused on urban hardship and street experiences, pairing them with dark, trap-rooted production. He entered the world in Southeast Washington, D.C., though he calls Capitol Heights, Maryland, home, and first picked up the microphone while still a teenager. His debut mixtape appeared in the first months of 2014, when he was seventeen. Additional projects followed rapidly across the subsequent years, while his videos drew hundreds of thousands of streams on YouTube. After issuing Street Runner, 19, and 20K, and receiving backing from Wale, he secured a deal with Republic Records in 2017. The imprint then gave an official release to the earlier mixtape track “Pull Up Hop Out,” which had already generated notice the year before.
